Yarlington Mill is a heavy-cropping traditional English cider apple variety, and quite widely grown in the English cider-producing regions. It produces a fine bittersweet cider with a good aroma and flavor.
The original Yarlington Mill apple tree was found growing out of a wall at a water mill in Yarlington, North Cadbury, Somerset, England in 1898.
It is a vigorous tree that produces high yields of small apples, with pale yellow skin overlaid with light red striping. Ripens late October to November. Yarlington Mill can become a biennial bearer, but this can be controlled by thinning the crop in the “on” year.
