Harrison Apple Trees

  • “Vintage” single varietal cider apple

Harrison is quite unusual, an American apple variety that was grown primarily for cider. Harrison is also unusual in being one of the few varieties which happens to have a harmonious balance of the key elements of good cider juice – tannin (bitter), sugar (sweet), and acid (sharp). It can therefore be used to make a single-varietal cider.

The flesh is rich, yellow, firm; pleasant and sprightly, but dry. Harrison apple juice makes an extremely dark, rich cider. The Harrison apple is scab resistant, and stores well. It remains one of the very finest apples for cider-making. Historically planted for cider with the Campfield apple trees.
